Homemade jazzies are the answer to my coeliac sweetie-craving prayers! These were one of my favourite sweets as a kid, but most shop bought varieties contain wheat in some form. It’s rare to be able to find gluten free varieties (typically through specialist mail order companies). It turns out, it is incredibly easy to make these sprinkles-topped white chocolate disks at home and they are every bit as delicious as I remember.

The other week a fellow blogger on Instagram (@theglutenfreefridge) had been asking about where to buy gluten free jazzies, and it got me thinking about how easy they would be to make at home. Why I have never tried this before I do not know, but homemade jazzies are SO EASY.

You only need two ingredients – white chocolate buttons and gluten free hundreds and thousands sprinkles. Then a bit of patience while you wait for the chocolate to cool. After that, fill your sweetie jar with these yummy drops of goodness and you’ll be one happy gluten free camper.

Which Gluten Free 100s and 1000s and Chocolate Should I Use?

You must always check the ingredients on the sprinkles and chocolate that you use for these, as many varieties contain wheat or have a may contain warning.

For the sprinkles, I’ve found that Sainsburys (and some other supermarkets) and the Dr Oetker ranges are generally quite gluten free friendly. I used Sainsburys Multicoloured 100s and 1000s for my jazzies and they looked great.

As for chocolate, I used the Cadbury Giant White Chocolate Buttons (sharing pouch). I’ve also used Tesco own brand white chocolate buttons before for a smaller variety.

2-Ingredient Homemade Jazzies (GF)
Yield: 120g Jazzies

2-Ingredient Homemade Jazzies (GF)

Prep Time: 5 minutes
Additional Time: 1 hour
Total Time: 1 hour 5 minutes

Ingredients

  • White chocolate buttons (I used a 110g bag of Cadbury White Giant Buttons)
  • Gluten free 100s and 1000s sugar sprinkles (I used 50g Sainsburys Multicolored 100s and 1000s)

Instructions

    1. Place the chocolate buttons on a non-stick, heat proof baking sheet on top of an oven tray, ensuring you leave a little bit of space between the buttons.
    2. Heat your oven grill to high and then slide the tray carefully under the grill. If the grill is already hot they will only take a few seconds to melt, no more than 30 seconds. You want them to hold their button form, so as soon as the surface of the buttons begins to look shiny take the tray out and place it on a heat proof mat.
    3. While the chocolate is still molten, carefully sprinkle 100s and 1000s all over the surface of each button until they are covered.
    4. Now set aside and allow them to cool fully. Once cooled, peel them off the mat and voila! You can place into a gift bag to make a nice gift or start scoffing them immediately if you fancy a chocolately treat!
